Analyze home health episodes
Draft — 2026-09-26
Drafted from the screen's code on main (kareIntelligence 7455702). Not yet reviewed against a live session. Roles listed are the defaults the app's role matrix (@collabkare/ability 0.12.0) gives this screen's route; your organization's role overrides can change them.
Utilization → Home Health shows home health agency episodes, cost, length of stay and 30-day readmissions.
Tabs
- Overview — episodes, home-health paid, average length of stay, cost per episode (total paid ÷ episodes), and how many discharge-known episodes led to an inpatient stay within 30 days. Monthly episodes and spend are keyed on the episode start month.
- By Provider — PCP panels with home-health episodes per 1,000 attributed members, listed most episodes first. Panels with zero episodes are kept in the list.
How an episode is counted
An episode is one institutional claim with a home place of service (POS 12). The mart has no bill-type or revenue-center columns, so interim bills appear as separate episodes.
Honest states
- No home health claims in this population's window — the connected population has no home-health claim lines in the filtered window. Zero episodes is a real measurement served by the mart, not an error.
- Episodes without a discharge date are excluded from average length of stay, and the screen says how many.
- PDGM payment-group analysis is not shown: it needs assessment (HIPPS) columns the mart does not carry, and no grouping is invented in the meantime.
Reading the screen
Episodes rising while paid stays flat means shorter or lighter home-health use — check length of stay. A readmission-rate jump concentrated in a few panels shows up on By Provider.
