End the visit and wrap up
Close out a video visit: confirm your documentation is done, end the encounter, and return to the queue for your next patient.
Before you start
- You must be the provider on an active visit. Ending the visit closes the encounter for everyone, so make sure the conversation is finished.
- Complete anything tied to the open visit first — assessments you still want to run and any orders or notes — because the visit record is marked finished when you end it.
Steps
- Before ending, glance at the side panel to confirm your work is captured — for example, that submitted screenings appear under the Assess tab.
- Check the timer strip: Total Time and F2F show the visit duration that will be recorded.
- Select the red End Visit button at the top right of the visit screen.
- In the End this visit? dialog, read the reminder that the visit will be marked finished and the video session will disconnect, then select End Visit to confirm (or Cancel to keep going).
- Wait a moment while the system closes the encounter — the button reads Ending…. The visit is marked finished, the face-to-face time is recorded, and you are returned to the Provider Queue.
- In the queue, the patient now appears under completed visits, and the Completed and Billable Today counters update.
Tips / Troubleshooting
- If ending fails, an error banner appears at the top of the visit screen and the visit stays open — check your connection and select End Visit again.
- Use the top-right End Visit button, not the small End button in the video control bar; only the top-right button closes the encounter.
- If you leave by closing the browser tab instead, the visit is not closed properly — the browser warns you before you leave. Go back and use End Visit.
