Conduct the video visit
Run the live video call: manage your microphone and camera, share your screen, pause when you step away, and invite a guest such as an interpreter.
Before you start
- Start the visit from the Provider Queue (see Start a video visit from the queue). The visit screen opens automatically.
- Allow the browser to use your camera and microphone when prompted.
Steps
- When the visit screen opens, the video area connects automatically. You and the patient appear as tiles; a shared screen gets its own tile.
- Watch the timer strip across the top. It shows a red Live indicator, Total Time, F2F (face-to-face) time, and an estimated CPT Tier based on elapsed time.
- Use the control bar under the video:
- Mic On / Mic Off — mute or unmute yourself.
- Camera On / Camera Off — turn your video on or off.
- Share — share your screen; the button reads Sharing while active. Select it again to stop.
- Pause / Resume — pause the visit timer if you step out for a moment. Select Resume when you return. (The timer also pauses automatically if the connection drops.)
- To bring in an interpreter or observer, select Invite:
- Enter a Guest name (for example, "Interpreter").
- Select Generate invite link.
- Select Copy next to the Join link (valid 1 hour) and send it to the guest. They join this visit only, with no account needed.
- When you are done, use the red End Visit button at the top right of the screen (see End the visit and wrap up).
Tips / Troubleshooting
- If you see Couldn't connect to the video room, retry, or return to the queue and start the visit again.
- Use the End Visit button at the top of the screen to finish — the small End button in the control bar does not close the visit.
- The Chat button in the control bar is not active yet.
- The guest link expires after one hour and only works for the current visit — generate a fresh link if the guest joins late.
